About Joe

Prior to forming Equites, Joe led the contingent litigation insurance group at one of the world’s largest five insurance brokerages. During that time, Joe realized that contingent litigation insurance was often a partial or non-optimal solution for a client, and that litigation funding either needed to supplement or replace insurance in order to best service a client’s needs. At Equites, Joe can tap into both the litigation funding and contingent litigation insurance markets to help his clients, whether it be individual claimants or law firms, extract the most value out of their litigation interests.

Joe Menning litigation finance consultant

Joe is a licensed attorney who spent 15 years in private practice. Early in his legal career, Joe worked on several high-value international arbitrations, and he later focused almost exclusively on professional liability defense and insurance, working with large law firms, accounting firms, and their professional liability insurers on significant malpractice claims. During this time, Joe helped devise resolution strategies and placed reserves on some of the largest legal and accounting malpractice cases in the United States. This experience greatly helps Joe at Equites, as Joe’s knowledge of how large defendants value a claim allows him to effectively pitch plaintiffs’ claims to potential funders and insurers.

Joe obtained Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Santa Clara University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law.
